03 · Classification
A range gun and a carry gun live different lives: different round counts, different maintenance windows, different urgency when something's due. Kalix tags every firearm Personal or Duty from day one, and filters, reminders, and stats respect that split everywhere in the app.
Range guns, hunting rifles, safe queens. Track what you actually shoot for fun (rounds, cost per round, when you last took it out) without duty-grade urgency cluttering the view.
The one that has to work. Duty-tagged firearms surface maintenance and service windows more prominently, because "I'll clean it later" isn't good enough for the gun that goes on your belt.
04 · About
I've been writing software for over 20 years, and I genuinely enjoy firearms and the outdoors. At some point those two things collided into a genuinely annoying problem: there was no good way to track my own firearms, ammo, gear, documents, and range history without forcing everything into spreadsheets, scattered notes, and a folder of receipt photos I'd never find again.
Every app I tried was either a glorified counter (tap to increment, tap to decrement) or a data-entry chore that felt like filing taxes. Nothing treated a Duty firearm differently from a Personal one. Nothing felt like it was actually built, as opposed to assembled from a template.
So I built Kalix myself, in Flutter, as a real native mobile app. Not a wrapped website, not a spreadsheet with a coat of paint. It started as a personal tool about a year ago. It's now a fully launched app on Google Play, with iOS coming.
Kalix is a one-person company. When you email support, you're not opening a ticket that lands in a queue. You're emailing me directly, and I'm the one who reads it and writes back.
